Repent for the kingdom of God has come!

John the Baptist, Jesus Christ and the disciples preached, “Repent, for the Kingdom of God is coming”. The Apostles preached, “Repent, for the Kingdom of God has come”. When are we going to return to preaching this message?

Unless we return to the proclamation of this simple, yet very offensive gospel message, we are going to see little that resembles the kingdom of God on the earth. Unless we return to living as the kingdom of God on the earth we are going to continue to see assemblies of hip hop believers, but not assemblies of faithful, powerful, earth changing disciples.

Not only did the Apostles preach this kingdom of God message, they taught their disciples to live the message 24/7. God never established the church on the corner; He set in motion His kingdom on earth and referred to those entering that kingdom as disciples. The reference to God adding the saved to the “church” in Acts 2:47 merely identifies a gathering of repentant, immersed, Spirit filled believers who are of one mind and soul and have all things in common.

Today we see “churches” everywhere, but not commonality among them. How in the world are we going to convince a hell bound world that what we have is the answer they are looking for if we can’t even replicate what existed in the first century?

The first thing that is necessary if we are going to change our world is to realize who we are and what we are supposed to be in this world. We are the most powerful people the world has ever known (Ephesians 1:15-23) individually and corporately. We are the kingdom of God with power, not the little congregation down on the corner fighting with the little congregation on the next corner, 1 Cor. 4:18-20.

Until we realize that nobody in Christendom has got it exclusively right as far as doctrine is concerned and that salvation is solely based on the blood of Jesus we will continue to see “church membership” espoused and not disciples made. Until we realize that nothing has changed since the Holy Spirit was poured out in His entirety to minister to the Bride of Christ as He wills and to convict the world of sin, righteousness and judgment through the preaching of the God’s word with signs following, then we will continue to fail to change the world, Acts 2:33, 38, 39, I Cor. 12.

The world is not looking for “church” they are looking for reality in the lives of the disciples of Christ. Millions of dollars are still being spent on mega facilities, attractive worship programmes and numerous other endeavours to attract the world to the Christian faith. Sadly though, because there is no kingdom mentality or desire to live kingdom lives before others, we have division, contentions etc. Let’s wake up and realize that only when we return to kingdom basics will non-believers repent and become true disciples making true disciples who shall change the world.
